Hillhouse is a really flexible venue for all occasions. Consider hosting your event here if you like big skies, expansive views and rural locations. We can host those in need of a smaller event space (up to 24) with or without group accommodation. Or perhaps you’re looking for something bigger? We can also accommodate tents, marquees or teepees in our beautiful, blank canvas Garden Field space. We hope we can work with you to create your perfect wedding, special celebration, corporate event, private festival or glamping party.
Hillhouse Farm Escapes can also offer a wide variety of film/photography locations to suit farming, industrial or residential sets.
weddings, events & film location
If you are in need of a venue or location, we are happy to help on our upland hill farm in the south of Scotland. We’re just 30 minutes south of Edinburgh, or 90 minutes north of Newcastle. A great spot for small events (including overnight accommodation), weddings, parties and bigger events (including DIY). Perhaps you are in need of a film or photography location – we offer a wide range of settings including hills, fields, tracks, agricultural buildings, a tennis court, farmhouse and farm cottages, an engineering workshop and farm steading.
smaller events
Our farm cottages offer a great location for small events including small weddings, parties, hen parties, team “away days” and family reunions. A small tent or marquee can be pitched, with easy access to facilities, for up to 24 guests. The cottages themselves provide overnight accommodation for 25 guests plus extra children on camp beds or travel cots as needed. Perhaps add a bell tent or two if you’d like slightly more space. We can connect you with outstanding local caterers to ensure your event has a menu to suit. Mobile bars can also be provided.

weddings & big events
We are very happy to host events and weddings at Hillhouse Farm Escapes. This is a blank canvas venue with an incredible location and views from our Garden Field. You just need to decide whether you’re looking for a tent, marquee, a teepee (tipi), yurt or geodome!
If you are looking for a DIY wedding venue, you have the opportunity to create something completely unique here. The wedding party can stay on-site in our cottages and you can add some bell tents too.
film & photography location
Hillhouse Farm Escapes, in the south of Scotland, is delighted to work with Location Services providers for photography and filming. Hillhouse offers a diversity of indoor and outdoor locations including domestic buildings, farmhouse, tennis court, upland landscapes, hills, moorland, fields, tracks, streams, ponds, agricultural buildings, farm steading and an industrial steel workshop.
